1. Key Properties
AISI 52100 (also known as 1.3505 or 100Cr6) is a high-carbon, chromium-alloyed steel specifically designed for bearing applications. It is well-known for its exceptional hardness, wear resistance, and ability to retain its strength under high-stress conditions. This steel is particularly suitable for manufacturing bearing components, including balls, rollers, and races, due to its excellent fatigue strength and high dimensional stability. It can also be heat treated to achieve superior hardness and surface finish, ensuring optimal performance in demanding environments.

2. Applications/Industries

  • Bearings (e.g., ball bearings, roller bearings, tapered bearings)
  • Automotive (e.g., wheel bearings, transmission components)
  • Aerospace (e.g., turbine shafts, jet engines)
  • Industrial Machinery (e.g., conveyor rollers, gearboxes)
  • High-Precision Instruments (e.g., machine tools, medical devices)
  • Power Transmission Components (e.g., gears, shafts)

3. Certifications/Standards

  • Meets ASTM A295, SAE J30 specifications
  • ISO 9001 certified
